What our customers love most about VALA gels
One of my favourite pieces of feedback from our customers is that our gels taste like 'real food' and that they actually look forward to munching a VALA during their run or ride. For a long time, energy gels have been considered a 'necessary evil' by most of us, as we don't have the time to be unwrapping a cling-filmed date whilst mid-activity - a feeling that I know all too well.
Instead, we've resorted to taking whatever convenient goop comes out of a sachet to keep us fuelled up, even if it means compromising on flavour or overlooking the fact that they give us stomach aches. I've lost count of the amount of people that have told me gel-related anecdotes, which range from having a mouth that 'feels like scorched earth' to experiencing gout from maltodextrin overload as a result of eating the more commercial gels.
Since starting VALA I've seen a huge shift in awareness about what goes into most standard gels. The result is that more and more of us are searching for a more natural gel that fits in with our day-to-day lifestyle and that won't give us gastric upset when training or racing. As we blend together seven natural ingredients (maple syrup, date paste, lemon juice, lime juice, powdered chia seeds, matcha tea powder and @halenmon sea salt), our gels have a slightly more substantial consistency than most people are used to.
Our customers have said that having the gels sit well in their stomach has been a major advantage. They love the flavour of VALA so much that they want to savour it for as long as possible before swigging back the water! As far as compliments go, it doesn’t get much better than that.
