What is Your 'Why'?
I was doing my gratitude list yesterday and it hit me just how much my life has changed in a few years.
Back in 2019 I was burned out, struggling to believe in myself and juggling a full time job with trying to make VALA a reality.
I remember being sat in the office I was working at and I had a moment of life-changing realisation… “If I can’t imagine living this life for the next five years, then how am I going to live it for the next twenty five years?”.
Honestly, I felt helpless.
But it’s what changed everything.
I started to question WHO I was living for, WHAT really lit me up inside and WHY I was settling for a life of “should” and “must”.
In that moment, I really wanted to run away from these feelings… but I knew I needed to process them.
After reaching peak burnout, I quit my job in advertising in London and returned home to Wales to follow my dream of launching VALA.
In the space of a few months… my whole world flipped upside down.
Once back home, I took a step back, reflected on what actually brought me joy and stepped off of the hamster wheel that I’d been on for a decade.
I didn’t have a clue how the future would unfold, but I had faith in the process and it turned out that the simplest of things brought me joy…
🥦 Eating nourishing food that was lovingly prepared and taking the time to enjoy it
✌🏻 Connecting with a likeminded community that inspired me
🧘🏻♀️ Embracing a slower pace of life and learning to manage my cortisol levels
💭 Reading and watch things that made me feel inspired, rather than trashy reality tv that I used to numb myself after a ‘busy’ day
🌿 Spending time in nature each day to feel grounded and energised
The truth is, we already have the things around us that are our greatest healers.
We choose to overlook them in favour of “fancy” material things that make us think we’ll be happy once we get them. The holiday… the new kit… the PB.
But it’s about listening to the voice of intuition, doing what we actually enjoy and taking time to self reflect.
It’s never too late to choose again, to pivot or to change your mind.
Never forget that.
