Running reads and matcha teas

Weekends are for rainy runs followed by blankets, good reads and matcha tea. When formulating VALA, I always said that I wanted to create a gel that would nourish athletes and provide them with nutrients whilst they train and during their event days. As a big believer in a plant based approach to nutrition, it didn’t make sense to me to follow a balanced, whole food diet on a daily basis then chug back a chemical powdered gel during training and races.

That’s why I opted for all natural ingredients and chose to include antioxidant powerhouse matcha tea. Safe to say it’s an acquired taste and a little goes a long way, but this powdered green tea has some excellent health benefits. As matcha is the ground whole tea leaf - as opposed to tea leaves brewed in a bag - it has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea. If you haven’t tried it before, it’s slightly bitter and has a strong flavour - I'd recommend mixing with rice or coconut milk to sweeten it slightly. Sit back, cosy up in your favourite blanket with a great read and enjoy!
