Rediscovering your exercise mojo
Some days, finding the motivation to get out there can seem tougher than others. In case you’re in need of a training kick-start check out our top tips below.
LAY OUT CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE
When I worked in an office job, this was the one thing that got me motivated to squeeze in a pre-work gym session or run. Not only did this allow me to get up and out of the door at record speed but they served as a reminder of the promise that I’d made to myself the day before - when I was arguably less tired and significantly more caffeinated.
MIX IT UP
Cross-training is great for improving overall fitness and preventing injuries from overuse. It also helps to maintain enthusiasm for your main discipline and prevents the weeks and months of training from becoming a monotonous slog. A few of my favourites include circuit training, resistance training and yoga.
EAT MORE WHOLE FOODS
For me, nutrition and training go hand in hand, which is why I created VALA. It seems counterproductive to condition our bodies to be strong and fit then compromise on the fuel that we provide them. A balanced diet low in processed foods and high in fruits and vegetables will help to raise energy levels and ensure that you can power through training with heaps of enthusiasm.
