We Won a Wales Food & Drink Award for 'Innovation'
Recently Dann and I had the pleasure of attending the very first @fooddrinkawardswales in Cardiff and guess what?…
VALA took home the ‘Innovation’ award for our 100% natural energy gels - talk about the icing on the cake!
We met and discovered some of the most incredible food and drink businesses in Wales, which was so inspiring. Our table mates were the infamous @tinyrebelbrewco and the delicious @blightybooch (I’m now hooked).
I often say that I knew I wanted to move back to Wales to start VALA as the sense of community and support for shopping independent and local is unparalleled.
I remember coming back from London and seeing amazing brands like @coaltowncoffee popping up, as well as exciting restaurants like @secret_swansea and @hoogahswansea. This gave me so much hope to see younger people and businesses boldly creating the change they wanted to see.
Last night really reinforced my belief that we no longer need to look outside of our local towns and cities for the best quality produce, restaurants and cafes. We have such a diverse range of food and drink available on our doorstep.
We also have such fantastic small business government support available, thanks to @_business.wales, @bicinnovation (thanks to Michael and Jeremy for their wealth of knowledge and time) and Zero2Five food hub (shout outs to Suzie, Helen and Edd for their patience, enthusiasm and creativity).
To see the growth of the Welsh Food and Drink industry and how it’s truly making waves across the world is so inspiring to witness.
It was said last night that the Welsh government has announced plans to grow this sector to at least £8.5 billion a year by 2025 - I can’t wait to see what exciting, fresh and innovative businesses come next.
This award is just as much for our VALA crew and community as it is for us… it’s because of your support and passion for also being powered by plants that we continue to grow.
I’m so grateful that we were recognised at last night’s awards to show just how much your support means.
Time to celebrate! 🥳
