Patience is Key
One of my favourite phrases is…
“The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit’.
I remember my boyfriend Dann saying this to me after I’d spent two years working on VALA getting it ready to launch in April 2020… only for COVID to come along and completely shake my plans up and basically wipe out the sports nutrition market.
I was devastated.
During this time, Dann reminded me about what I’d already build up until that point.
Of the hours of time I’d dedicated to researching and developing these energy gels and all of the preparation it had taken to get this far.
Before launching, I’d had excellent feedback from testers and was excited to get the gels out in the wild.
However, I soon realised that releasing them was phase one of climbing the mountain.
The next phase was being consistent and putting one foot in front of the other… even when it was hard, even when I felt like no one was watching, listening or buying.
Even when I wanted to quit.
That’s when this phrase became my mantra.
After my nervous system gave me warning signs that I was putting too much pressure on myself in the form of hives, burnout and migraines, I knew I had to change.
I let go of expectation, I let go of the stories my ego was telling me about targets and vanity metrics… I chose instead to surrender to flow and divine timing.
And it felt… peaceful.
I was no longer in resistance to what was happening… I rewrote the script so that this unfortunate event was just a line in the book of my life, rather than a whole chapter.
I changed my perspective and the meaning I gave to this event.
So if today you find yourself trying to push harder, go further and achieve purely to keep your ego happy… take a step back.
Release the expectation.
Remember that you’re doing your best.
Remember that you’re still watering those seeds you planted days, weeks, months ago.
… and soon they’re going to blossom into the most amazing blooms that you’ll be so proud you waited for.
It will all be so worth it.
I promise.
