HIIT and run workout by Lia Sweatsalot
This week’s workout is brought to you all the way from Canada by our favourite Welsh PT @lia_sweatsalot. It’s an outdoor HIIT and run combo that’s guaranteed to make you break a sweat, whilst injecting some fun into your home workout routine. Here’s Lia with the goods...
RUN
Start with your run. I usually run 3km to my favourite beach in Vancouver where I stop to do the HIIT session, but you can pause half way on your favourite route. Rest for 2 mins once you get there to catch your breath.
HIIT
For the HIIT section, we’re going to do the following routine...
Minute 1: press ups
Minute 2: air squats
Minute 3: burpees
Minute 4: lunges
Minute 5: REST
Repeat for 3 - 5 rounds, depending on how much energy you have left after your run!.
All of these exercises can be done anywhere and on any surface, so there’s no need to get down on the floor and dirty if you’re exercising outside. The burpees can be done without chest to the floor (unless you want to) but on sand I do half burpees, otherwise it gets too messy for my run home.
